Topic: Building Belonging

Details: All learning will be focused on the HWDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan with connections to individual School Improvement Plans. Topics covered include: understanding and responding to student needs, creating supportive classrooms, identity-affirming teaching and learning approaches connected to curriculums that reinforce Indigenous Educational Wellness and align with Human Rights, Equity and Inclusive Education.  This PA Day will focus on the Ministry of Education’s priority of Tackling Racism.

Staff will also engage in learning related to Occupational Health and Safety Training.

Details: All learning will be focused on the HWDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan and Board Improvement Plan with connections to individual School Improvement Plans. This PA Day will focus on the Ministry of Education priority of Keeping Schools Safe. Staff will engage in professional learning about caring, safe, and inclusive schools, reviewing key policies, safe school’s requirements, progressive discipline, and legal duties to report. The learning will highlight proactive strategies and resources to help prevent violence and bullying; supports for gender-based violence and sex trafficking prevention; and equity responsive, trauma-informed approaches that promote student engagement, belonging, and well-being.
